Masonic monument dedication

Deer Park City Council Member Jeff Pound (right) presented a proclamation on behalf of Mayor Wayne Riddle and the City of Deer Park to Grand Master of Masons in Texas James F. Brumit (left) Saturday (April 21) at the Masonic memorial statue near the Battleship Texas.  Also pictured is emcee Kenneth Schockley (far left) and Deer Park Masonic Lodge Master Johnny Cobb (far right).

The occasion commemorates the Battle of San Jacinto and the role Masons had not only in the battle, but in the foundation of the State of Texas.  It was noted during the ceremony that Sam Houston, William Barrett Travis, James Bonham, David Crockett, Mirabeau B. Lamar and Anson Jones to name a few.
